MAGC relies on our members to help support our programs and events, serve on the Board of Directors and committees, and sign up to judge our annual awards contest. If you want to get involved but don't see an opportunity below that interests you, reach out! We're always open to ideas.

Volunteer as a judge for NC3C


MAGC has a mutual agreement with NC3C (our North Carolina equivalent) to serve as judges for each other's annual awards contest. This system helps us ensure that the judging is unbiased. It's  a great opportunity to help out our partner organization, get some ideas for your own work, and save money on your Northern Lights entry fee and ceremony registration!

We send out a call for judges each winter, and the judging typically takes place in February and March. Learn more here!

Host a workshop or webinar


MAGC's monthly webinars are a core feature of our member offerings. We're always looking for presenters who have something topical and relevant to share with MAGC members. Previous sessions have included:

  • The art of writing for public engagement: Clarity, tone, and impact

Feature your work in the MAGC monthly newsletter


We're always looking for member-driven content for the MAGC newsletter, whether you're sharing a story from the field, industry news, career advice, or other tips and resources. We also feature one member each month in our Member Spotlight. If you want to write something for the MAGC newsletter, fill out this form or reach out to our admin team. We also have a form for our monthly spotlight.

Join a committee


MAGC committees are led by Board members and open to interested MAGC members. If you have a passion for communications (of course!), membership engagement, event planning, or education, you might be a good fit for a committee! Connect with us if you're interested.
