Fall Conference

The Minnesota Association of Government Communicators (MAGC) Fall Conference takes place each fall and brings together more than 300 government communicators for a dynamic day of networking and professional development. Our Fall Conference planning committee works hard each year to develop exceptional programming and speakers covering high-demand topics.

Registration is open to everyone, but MAGC members get a $50 discount on the conference registration fee. Not a member? Subscribe to receive announcements about the Fall Conference and other MAGC events.

Fall Conference FAQ

When is the MAGC Fall Conference?

The date of the MAGC Fall Conference changes each year, but it's typically held in late October. The date and location of the Fall Conference are typically announced in January or February, and information is posted on our Upcoming Events page.

Where is the MAGC Fall Conference held?

The Fall Conference is typically held in the Twin Cities metro area. For the past several years, the Fall Conference has been held at the Heritage Center in Brooklyn Center.

Can non-members attend the Fall Conference?

The MAGC Fall Conference is open to both members and non-members. MAGC members receive a registration discount for the Fall Conference (in addition to the Northern Lights Ceremony and monthly MAGC workshops). If you're not a current member of MAGC, you can join when you register for the Fall Conference to receive a discount on your first year of membership.

Are there vendor or sponsorship opportunities at the Fall Conference?

Yes! MAGC is grateful for the support of our Fall Conference sponsors. Sponsorship opportunities may vary each year. Details are usually shared on the Fall Conference event web page. If you represent a business or vendor that is interested in supporting the Fall Conference, please reach out.

What is the typical Fall Conference agenda?

There is no typical Fall Conference agenda! The Fall Conference Planning Committee works hard each year to develop updated programming, respond to feedback, and make improvements to the conference. With that said, here's a rough outline of what you might expect:
  • Breakfast and networking (usually opens around 8am)
  • Opening keynote speaker
  • Morning breakout sessions
  • Mid-day speaker
  • Lunch and networking
  • Afternoon breakout sessions
  • Closing speaker
  • Happy hour and networking

Can I submit a proposal to speak at the Fall Conference?

MAGC usually opens a Call for Presenters in the spring to help identify speakers for the next Fall Conference. Information about the Call for Presenters will be posted on this page and shared with the MAGC email list.

The Planning Committee is most interested in presenters from the communications field that can offer fresh, timely, and engaging programming that discusses relevant topics and themes. Recent sessions have covered topics including AI principles and policy, social media content creation, digital accessibility, and community outreach.

How do I join the Fall Conference Planning Committee?

MAGC invites members interested in joining the Fall Conference Planning Committee to reach out to our admin team! The committee typically begins meeting in late spring or early summer and continues to meet until October, with meetings increasing in frequency leading up to the conference.
